This is one in a series of stories introducing the Villanova Wildcats’ 2025-26 roster.

Shooting guard Malcolm Flaggs joined Villanova as part of a package deal, transferring to the Main Line alongside former high school and college teammate Duke Brennan. A former preferred walk-on at Arizona State, where he and Brennan initially committed out of high school, the duo spent the last two seasons at Grand Canyon, where Flaggs earned a full scholarship.

Flaggs has dealt with a bevy of injuries throughout his college career that limited his ability to contribute. Even though he and Brennan enrolled in college during the same year, Flaggs is still only a redshirt sophomore owing to a medical redshirt he took while at Grand Canyon. As of right now, he’s appeared in just 11 games, all during the 2023-24 season, averaging 2.5 minutes off the bench in those contests.

Those injury woes have reared their ugly head again, unfortunately, as Flaggs is currently dealing with a right Achilles’ tendon strain that head coach Kevin Willard said will cause him to miss extended time. If Flaggs is able to return this season, he’d likely appear off the bench in late game blowouts. As a senior, fellow former walk-on guard Wade Chiddick will likely be the first option in those scenarios, but Flaggs’ height — he stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 200 pounds, bigger than the typical guard — could give him the Wildcats added versatility.

There isn’t much game film of Flaggs to review, even from his high school days, making his first appearance with Villanova Men’s Basketball the best indicator Wildcats fans will have of his playing style and ability.
