Villanova Walk-On Wade Chiddick Stays Through Coaching Change | Meet the Wildcats
This is one in a series of stories introducing the Villanova Wildcats’ 2025-26 roster.
Wade Chiddick enrolled at Villanova as a student during the 2022-23 academic year, then offered his services to the men’s basketball team as a practice player the following year. He picked up a spot on the roster as a walk-on last season, giving the Wildcats a depth option at guard.
Villanova already had former walk-on Collin O’Toole as their go-to reserve during blowouts, so Chiddick didn’t appear in any games during the 2024-25 season, but now that O’Toole graduated, he could fulfill a similar role.
Continuing the Villanova Way
Standing 6-foot-4 and tipping the scale at 200 pounds, Chiddick is one of just three returning Wildcats from last season, alongside Tyler Perkins and Matt Hodge. Admittedly, a walk-on wouldn’t have the same scholarship and transfer opportunities that many other players would, but Chiddick can still provide continuity for a new-look roster as an example of the Villanova Way.
A native of King of Prussia, Pa., Chiddick attended the Westtown School in nearby West Chester. Dating back to his time with the Moose, he served as a reserve option, but he played alongside ESPN Top 100 player and future NBA lottery pick Dereck Lively II there — one could be forgiven for not making the starting five at a private school with plenty of talent.
Largely unheralded as a recruit, there isn’t much (if any) video of him on the court… but if Villanova is winning big late in the second half this season, there’s a good chance Wade Chiddick will check into the game for his first college minutes.
Academically Chiddick is a senior. Since he hasn’t appeared on the court at all — last season could technically count as a redshirt year — Chiddick would have four years of eligibility left if he chose to use them, but he’ll likely opt to graduate on a normal timeline.
