Villanova Forward Duke Brennan Working Out For NBA Teams

Villanova forward Duke Brennan worked out with the Detroit Pistons on May 20 and will showcase his talents for the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, May 26, giving the senior forward a chance to show off his potential for a professional contract.

Brennan stands 6-foot-10 and weighs 250 pounds. A classic big man who earned Third Team All-Big East honors this past season, averaging a double-double with 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Despite his presence in the paint, Brennan doesn’t have the shooting ability to stretch the floor at power forward — increasingly a necessity in this era of the NBA. He’s a hair shorter than the average NBA center and provided up-and-down defense at Villanova, indicating he’d work best in tandem with another big man on the court.

Despite those question marks as an NBA prospect, Brennan’s work ethic and tenacious mentality give him a chance to work his way up the ladder if given a chance.

“He’s an ass-kicker,” UConn head coach Dan Hurley said of Brennan before the Wildcats played the Huskies in January. “He’s not looking for a jersey swap after the game. I mean, he’s looking to kick your ass.”

Although he participated in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, a pre-draft showcase, Brennan wasn’t invited to the NBA Draft Combine, so any contract he picks up in the United States will likely come at the G-League level… but with that sort of reputation among opposing head coaches, don’t write Brennan off.
