Big 5 Men’s Basketball
Big 5 Transfer Pickup Tracker: Finkley Flips to La Salle
The 2026-27 basketball transfer portal season is in full swing, with teams in the Philadelphia Big 5 working to augment their rosters with players who already have college experience. The first Big 5 poaching took place on Tuesday, April 15 when Philadelphia native and Saint Joseph’s Prep alumnus Anthony Finkley transferred from Saint Joseph’s to La Salle.
Saint Joseph’s still doesn’t have an athletic director, which could put them at a severe disadvantage in terms of funding while the best mid-major options remain on the table. The University of Pennsylvania has a five player freshman class, limiting the Quakers’ need to attack the portal, while Drexel, La Salle and Temple are all dealing with the roster shakeup that smaller programs fall victim to in this era of college basketball.
Villanova has to replace all but three players from last season’s roster but already secured a pair of highly-touted transfers.
Here’s a comprehensive list of incoming transfers for each Big 5 men’s program sorted alphabetically; click here for the corresponding tracker for players hitting the road.
