All but one of Villanova Men’s Basketball’s freshman class from the 2024-25 season hit the transfer portal after the Wildcats’ season ended in the College Basketball Crown semifinals, and now two of them, Josiah Moseley and Aleksandar Gavalyugov, have chosen their new homes.

Moseley, a 6-foot-6 forward, averaged 10.2 minutes per game across 30 contests for the Wildcats, their first forward option off the bench after fellow transfer Nnanna Njoku underwent season-ending surgery. Moseley averaged 1.9 points and 2.3 rebounds on 57.5 percent shooting during that span. A native of Round Rock, Texas, Moseley returned home to the Lone Star State, committing to Texas Tech on Friday, April 18.

Gavalyugov, who came to the Wildcats from Sofia, Bulgaria, chose Santa Clara earlier in the week. A 6-foot-2 point guard, Gavalyugov averaged 4.5 minutes across four games with Villanova, putting up 2.0 points, 0.3 assists and 0.5 steals.

Both players will have at least three years of eligibility remaining, but injuries kept Gavalyugov out of the lineup at times, which could allow him to receive a medical redshirt waiver.

Villanova still needs to fill at least five spots on their roster ahead of the 2025-26 season with less than a week to go in the initial transfer portal period. After April 22, most players will be unable to enter the portal, but those who already elected to transfer can still choose their new homes following that date.
