Villanova Four-Star Freshman Josiah Moseley Elects to Transfer

Villanova Men’s Basketball has another spot to fill on their 2025-26 roster, with rising sophomore forward Josiah Moseley hitting the transfer portal.
After a report from Joe Tipton of On3, Moseley reposted it to his Instagram and Twitter accounts, confirming the news.
Moseley averaged 10.2 minutes per game across 30 contests for the Wildcats, their first forward option off the bench after fellow transfer Nnanna Njoku underwent season-ending surgery. He averaged 1.9 points and 2.3 rebounds on 57.5 percent shooting during that span, working his way into the lineups and learning the ropes of Division 1 basketball.
Moseley stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 228 pounds, a former four-star recruit who came to the Wildcats as the No. 72 player in the class of 2024. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.
Moseley’s departure leaves the Wildcats with six roster spots to fill next season. They’re losing all five of their starters from 2024-25 to graduation along with Njoku and Kris Parker to the portal.
Players hit the portal for any number of reasons in this open season era of college basketball: as of right now, Moseley hasn’t given his motivation. A coaching change like the Villanova hiring Kevin Willard adds another layer of complexity to the situation. Incoming coaches (and often even returning coaches) give players and assistants from the previous regime an idea of how their role will or won’t change under new leadership — sometimes going so far as to encourage them to transfer if a role isn’t available — but Moseley also simply could’ve wanted a fresh start somewhere else.
