Phillies minor league affiliates went 2-2 on Tuesday, May 5 with multiple extra base hit games from top prospects; Aroon Escobar and Alirio Ferrebus both managed four-hit games.

Gage Wood (15.2 IP, 25 K’s, 3.45 ERA) and Alex Binelas (nine homers, 1.188 OPS) earned the organization’s pitcher and hitter of the month awards for April.

Left fielder Otto Kemp drove the scoring for Triple-A Lehigh, amassing seven RBI in a 7-5 win and clubbing a pair of home runs. Center fielder Steward Berroa reached base five times, singling and drawing four walks.

Double-A Reading prevailed in a 14-12 track meet, scoring five runs in a decisive eighth inning rally. Escobar (4-for-5 with a homer and two doubles), shortstop Bryan Rincon (2-for-5 with a double and a homer) and left fielder Raylin Heredia (2-for-5 with two doubles) all managed multiple extra base hits; right fielder Dylan Campbell went 4-for-5 with a homer and brought five runs home.

Alex McFarlane carried the Fightin Phils across the finish line with a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk but hanging on for the save.

A-Ball Heartbreak

Scoring continued early and often for High-A Jersey Shore, who ended up on the wrong side of a 9-2 drubbing; designated hitter Luke Davis hit two doubles.

Single-A Clearwater added two runs in the top of the ninth on a Ferrebus homer but conceded four more runs in the bottom of the frame, falling 9-8 via walk-off.

Griffin Burkholder (3-for-5 with a homer, a double and a steal), Matt Ferrara (1-for-4 with a homer) and Ferrebus (4-for-4 with two homers) all cleared the fences. Phillies 2025 fifth round pick Gabe Craig put up 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, but 12th round pick Tyler Bowen earned the loss after a four-run meltdown, giving up a three-run homer that proved the difference.
