Phillies’ affiliates went 1-3 on Wednesday, May 6, with rehabbing outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. — soon to return to Triple-A — driving the offense for Single-A Clearwater. The Threshers won 5-3, four of those runs coming off Rincones’ (2-for-4 with a homer and a single) bat.

Although he began the season on the injured list with knee soreness, Rincones spent all of last year with the IronPigs.

Shortstop Matt Ferrara hit a sacrifice fly and drew two walks, and right-hander Brad Pacheco relied on drawing contact to get through four innings of one-run ball, striking out just one batter.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley got pummeled 11-1, with most of the production coming from fringe major leaguers like 29-year-old Bryan De La Cruz.

Double-A Reading lost 11-3: third baseman Aroon Escobar, shortstop Bryan Rincon and designated hitter Alex Binelas (who also homered all went 2-for-4, but the Fightin Phils went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and starting pitcher Gabriel Barbosa got pummeled.

The onslaught continued for High-A Jersey Shore, who fell 11-5. Starting pitcher Luke Gabrysh gave up six runs in 1.2 innings, his ERA ballooning to 7.20 after a trio of strong starts to begin the season. A 2024 15th round pick of the Phillies, the 6-foot-3 right-hander attended Saint Joseph’s University.

Right fielder Devin Saltiban (3-for-5 with a triple), first baseman Brock Vrandenburg (2-for-3 with two walks), catcher Luke Davis (1-for-4 with a homer and a walk) and catcher/designated hitter Kodey Shojinaga (1-for-3 with two walks) did their best to dig out of the early hole, but the Frederick Keys continued to tighten the screw on the BlueClaws’ bullpen.
