Phillies Prospect Watch: Two-Homer Day for Heredia
Phillies’ affiliates went 1-3 on Sunday, May 3, with Double-A Reading and High-A Jersey Shore driving the offense; Lehigh Valley and Clearwater both had afternoons to forget.
Light-hitting center fielder and 2022 13th round pick Cade Fergus went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles for Triple-A Lehigh Valley; the IronPigs managed just two more hits in a 5-0 loss. Alan Rangel managed five innings of one run ball, striking out six batters on 79 pitches, but still received a loss.
Raylin Heredia hit two home runs for Double-A Reading and plated five runs in the process, but the Fightin Phils lost 12-6 as starting left-hander Adam Seminaris got tagged for six runs (five earned) in four innings. Aroon Escobar and Dante Nori each reached base twice: Nori doubled and Escobar stole a base.
High-A Jersey Shore managed the affiliates’ lone win, giving up five runs and the lead in the top of the seventh before storming to victory with four runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Designated hitter John Spikerman (2-for-3 with a double and a walk), shortstop Jose Colmenares (2-for-3 with a walk), center fielder Devin Saltiban (1-for-3 with a double and a walk), catcher Luis Caicuto (2-for-4 with a double) and first baseman Luke Davis (2-for-4 with a homer) all reached base at least twice.
Phillies’ 2022 sixth round pick Mavis Graves pitched just two innings in his second start of the week, allowing one hit and fanning two batters.
Single-A Clearwater lost 11-0, 2025 third round pick Cody Bowker tagged with the loss after allowing two runs in two innings. He also struck out three batters.
