Nine players who spent at least a season with Villanova Men’s Basketball but later transferred away remain active in Division I basketball and, with two notable exceptions, most have settled in as bench players at their new homes.

The Wildcats lost six players to the transfer portal at the end of the 2024-25 season, including a trio of freshmen: Josiah Moseley, Malcolm Thomas and Sash Gavalyugov. They also lost forward Nnanna Njoku, 6-foot-9 guard Kris Parker and Jordann Dumont. Moseley transferred to Texas Tech but has yet to appear in a game for the No. 15 ranked Red Raiders as a result of an offseason injury.

Gavalyugov is putting up 8.5 points and 2.5 assists per game for Santa Clara, although a 37-point explosion against Loyola Marymount boosts that average significantly.

Another noteworthy performer is 2023 transfer Angelo Brizzi, who caught on as a starter with the Buffalo Bulls and is putting up 11.2 PPG. Here’s how the rest of these former Villanova athletes are performing; Gavalyugov and Brizzi are the only two to see an increase in playing time since transferring.

2025 transfers:

  • Malcolm Thomas (Dayton): 5.0 PPG, 1.8 RPG in 10.2 minutes per game; injured while at Villanova
  • Nnanna Njoku (Delaware): two games played since returning from knee surgery; Njoku also dealt with injuries as a Wildcat
  • Jordann Dumont (VCU): six games played, 2.7 minutes per game; 6.6 MPG across 20 games played last season
  • Kris Parker (UCF): 2.3 PPG in 7.1 MPG; 2.6 PPG across 10.1 MPG in 2024-25

2024 transfers:

  • Brendan Hausen (Iowa): 4.8 PPG in 10.8 MPG; 6.2 PPG and 17.6 MPG during the 2023-24 season
  • Trey Patterson (Rice) three games played; 40 appearances across three seasons at Villanova
