Villanova Men’s Basketball lost six players to the transfer portal last offseason in the wake of head coach Kyle Neptune’s firing. Coupled with six graduations, that meant the Wildcats had to scramble to flesh out their roster upon bringing new head coach Kevin Willard into the fold, bringing in 11 new players via the portal and recruiting.

With one month already completed in the 2025-26 season, here’s a look at how the Wildcats’ departed transfers are performing in their new homes: none of them are starting on a regular basis, but some are putting on strong performances in a bench role. Two of the outgoing transfers, Josiah Moseley and Nnanna Njoku (playing at Texas Tech and Delaware, respectively), have yet to play a game this season due to injuries: Njoku underwent knee surgery while at Villanova in January, while Moseley’s reported lower body injury happened more recently.

Up-and-Down Transfer Class

The top performer from the transfer class is sophomore guard Sash Gavalyugov, who’s averaging 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.6 steals per game as the first guard off the bench at Santa Clara. Averaging 18.8 minutes per game, Gavalygov also has one start under his belt.

Redshirt freshman forward Malcolm Thomas, who didn’t play a game at Villanova after an injury late in the offseason derailed his start, is averaging 9.9 minutes off the bench at Dayton, putting up 3.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and, most impressively, 0.9 blocks. He won the dunk contest as a freshman last season, so that display of athleticism isn’t too surprising.

Jordann Dumont, who turned into a key reserve for the Wildcats down the stretch last season, has played just 11 minutes this season at VCU, while 6-foot-9 guard Kris Parker is making 61.1 percent of his shots off the bench at UCF, averaging four points, 1.4 boards and 1.0 turnovers across 9.9 minutes per game.
