The NCAA men’s basketball transfer portal closed to new entries at midnight on Tuesday, April 22, bringing an end to student-athletes’ ability to transfer away from their current teams… with a handful of notable exceptions.

Villanova lost six players to the transfer portal this offseason, along with two more (Enoch Boakye and Jordan Longino) who don’t have any eligibility remaining but could gain a fifth year should an all-encompassing NCAA rule change come to pass.

Transfers Aleksandar Gavalyugov and Josiah Moseley already chose their new homes, committing to Santa Clara and Texas Tech, respectively, while Kris Parker, Jordann Dumont, Malcolm Thomas and Nnanna Njoku have yet to find a new team.

Players who entered the portal can still choose to return to their prior team. Parker, who visited Memphis on April 15 and Malcolm Thomas, who received interest from a bevy of schools, are the only two Wildcats’ transfers with any public interest as of yet.

On the other end of the spectrum, Villanova received the commitment of Grand Canyon’s Duke Brennan, JMU’s Bryce Lindsay, Temple’s Zion Stanford, and Maryland’s Braden Pierce and Malachi Palmer. They also received the commitment of former Maryland top 100 recruit Chris Jeffrey, leaving them with at least five spots to fill on their roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Brennan, a 6-foot-10 forward, averaged close to a double-double last season on a team that made the NCAA Tournament, while Lindsay earned Sun Belt Sixth Man and Freshman of the Year honors after putting up 13.4 points per game. Stanford, a Philadelphia native, averaged 13.1 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting for the Wildcats’ Big 5 foe, while Pierce and Palmer played sparingly under Kevin Willard at Maryland as a result of injuries and youth, respectively.
