Villanova Men’s Basketball Recruiting
Villanova Misses Out On Top 100 Prospect Lucas Morillo
Villanova Men’s Basketball offered Lucas Morillo, the No. 73 prospect in the class of 2026 according to ESPN, back in July. They didn’t make the final cut in his recruiting efforts, however.
Morillo released his top six schools in an interview with Joe Tipton of On3/Rivals on Thursday, Aug. 28. The 6-foot-6 point guard included Big East rival Marquette along with Illinois, Texas, UCLA, Minnesota and Virginia.
Villanova has recruited the top 100 aggressively since hiring new head coach Kevin Willard. Assistant Ashley Howard, who stayed on from the Kyle Neptune regime, also plays a pivotal role in their recruiting efforts. While the Wildcats don’t have any recruits in the class of 2026 yet, they’re set to host top 40 ranked wing Chase Foster in the coming weeks and made the cut for five-star Jaxon Richardson and four-star Christopher Washington Jr. as those athletes begin to narrow down their recruiting choices.
Villanova built their roster this offseason with the intention of picking up underclassmen they could keep for a number of seasons. Things can change quickly in the era of the transfer portal, however.
