Villanova Film Room: Carter Fisk is Making Strides

This is one in a series of stories reviewing film for each player on Villanova Men’s Basketball’s 2026-27 roster. 

Carter Fisk committed to Villanova in June 2026, a surprise addition to their freshman class. A 6-foot-2, 175 pound combo guard out of St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, Maryland), film from Fisk’s performance against St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) in January 2026 indicates that at this point in his career he fits best as a shooting guard.

Unranked as a prospect, Fisk is a lefty dribbler who is vastly more effective moving to his left. Most of his action to the right consisted of brief crossovers or spinning fakes before immediately correcting course, rather than actually driving forward. On rare occasions he’d protect the ball with his body while moving right, unable to move upcourt unless on the way to an immediate gather step and layup.

Considering a point guard’s typical repertoire, Fisk did step up for St. Frances on inbound plays. He played competitive on-ball defense with active hands and a wide stance, creating a turnover that way and going coast-to-coast for a layup as his team mounted a furious fourth quarter comeback.

Fisk’s shooting, like his dribbling, was spotty, but he did manage to step up in the biggest moments of the game. He moved well off the ball, making decisive cuts through the paint, and crashed inside to pull down the game-sealing rebound in overtime.

With plenty of options on the wing and a pair of experienced point guards rostered, expect a redshirt year for Fisk during his first season with Villanova. Spending time in the lab working on his shooting and dribbling could help Fisk develop into a reserve point guard as he continues his upward trajectory; otherwise he could fill a three-and-D role on the wing.
