Phillies Prospect Watch: Stock Rising for Bowker and Fisher
Phillies affiliates went 2-2 on Wednesday, July 8, with recently promoted pitchers Matthew Fisher and Cody Bowker continuing ongoing hot streaks.
High-A Jersey Shore won 9-5 behind a storm of papercuts: of their ten hits, only two went for extra bases, doubles from Devin Saltiban (3-for-5) and Trent Farquhar, the latter of whom drew three of the BlueClaws’ eight walks. Bowker went five innings and struck out five batters on just 64 pitches: the 2025 third round pick allowed just one run in the best start of his professional career to date.
Single-A Clearwater won 5-4 behind home runs from Nathan Humphreys, Robert Phelps and Jonathan Hogart. Fisher, another 2025 pick, covered five innings and allowed one run, continuing his strong start with the Threshers.Â
First baseman Keaton Anthony, second baseman Christian Cairo and shortstop Dylan Moore all homered for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but the IronPigs lost 8-5 to the Columbus Clippers.
Double-A Reading mounted a ninth-inning comeback, a fielding error scratching one run across and putting the equalizer 90 feet away. Top second base prospect Aroon Escobar, who went 1-for-5 on the day, grounded out on the way to a 6-5 loss. Raylin Heredia (1-for-4 with a double) and Bryan Rincon (1-for-3 with a double and two walks) powered the offense; catcher/designated hitter Kehden Hettiger added a pair of walks.
Starter Kyle Brnovich allowed two runs in five innings and Futures Game nominee Wen-Hui Pan logged a scoreless outing for the fourth straight game, adding a clean inning in relief.
