The Phillies designated right-handed pitcher Jean Cabrera, their No. 13 prospect per MLB Pipeline, for assignment on Sunday, July 5, an unceremonious end for a 24-year-old who moved steadily through the system before this season. Cabrera began 2026 in Triple-A Lehigh Valley but was demoted to Double-A after posting a 9.32 ERA through his first seven starts. The reset did little to improve his numbers, leading the Phillies to pull the plug: if he makes it through waivers, he could re-join the club as a minor league signee.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 5-3 behind a barrage of walks and singles. Shortstop Christian Cairo drew two walks; Felix Reyes, Steward Berroa and Otto Kemp also reached base twice.

Double-A Reading lost 5-3, picking up ten singles — including four from Raylin Heredia — and six walks on the day. Starter Gabriel Barbosa got roughed up for four runs (three earned) early; Wen-Hui Pan fired a scoreless inning in relief, but the Fightin Phils couldn’t make up for lost ground.

High-A Jersey Shore managed just three hits in a 2-0 loss, sticking Tanner Gresham with the loss after five innings of two-run ball.

Single-A Clearwater won 6-2. Catcher/designated hitter Matt Vierling, a 2025 11th round pick, hit a home run, and Matt Ferrara, Juan Villavicencio and Nathan Humphreys added doubles. Tyler Bowen pitched a scoreless inning in relief, helping carry the Threshers to the finish line.
