Phillies Top 30 Prospects No. 19: Devin Saltiban Rebounds from Injury
This is the twelfth in a series of stories breaking down the Philadelphia Phillies’ Top 30 prospects heading into 2026.
The Phillies selected shortstop Devin Saltiban out of high school in the third round of the 2023 MLB Entry Draft. After a ten game stint in rookie ball that season, Saltiban hit 17 home runs and 13 doubles in 97 games for Single-A Clearwater the following season, showing an impressive degree of power for his 5-foot-9, 190 pound frame.
He stalled out in 2025, slashing .133/.232/.217 in the first month of the season with High-A Jersey Shore. Just as Saltiban began to find a groove, hitting three doubles and a home run across his first four games in May, he suffered a groin injury that required surgery and kept him off the diamond for seven weeks.
Bouncing Back
While he didn’t show much power upon returning to High-A in mid-July, Saltiban’s numbers improved over the final two months of the season, and he’s a candidate to bounce back with a healthy 2026… especially after a strong winter stint in Australia alongside fellow Phillies’ prospect Alirio Ferrebus. Saltiban won the Australian League title with the Adelaide Giants and took home Championship Series MVP honors.
Capable of playing both the middle infield and the outfield, Saltiban has spent most of his time at second base since joining the Phillies’ system.
He strikes out and draws walks at an above-average rate. Barely 21 years old, Saltiban has plenty of time to develop as a hitter and possesses excellent bat speed. Proficient in most categories, Saltiban’s calling card is his 60-grade running ability, aiding him on the basepaths and if he switches to the outfield full time. He’s stolen 46 bases on 54 attempts throughout his minor league career and remained a threat to run last season even with the groin injury.
