A rough week continued for the Phillies’ organization on Thursday, May 7 as pitching prospects took a beating across the board in an 0-4 performance.

Jean Cabrera kept struggling for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, conceding seven runs in four innings as the IronPigs lost 13-5. Otto Kemp, who debuted for the Phillies last season and has bounced between the big leagues and Triple-A ever since, hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first, briefly putting the IronPigs in front, but they couldn’t keep pace with the Buffalo Bisons’ onslaught.

University of Pennsylvania graduate Ryan Dromboski allowed six earned runs in 2.1 innings for Double-A Reading, ballooning his ERA to 23.14. Errors plagued third base prospect Aroon Escobar, allowing three unearned runs to cross in an 11-0 loss; Alex Binelas singled and walked, but the Fightin Phils generated little offense.

Devin Saltiban hit three singles, shortstop Jose Colmenares went 2-for-3 with a walk, and left fielder Raider Tello went 3-for-5 with a double, but High-A Jersey Shore lost 11-4.

Center fielder Griffin Burkholder hit two singles for Single-A Clearwater, third baseman Robert Phelps went 3-for-4 with a triple and a walk, and right fielder Jonathan Hogart tripled and drew a walk. Despite the extra base hits, the Threshers couldn’t salvage the day for the Phillies’ organization — the big leaguers also endured a 12-1 thrashing at the hands of the A’s — and lost 9-4.
