This is the twenty-third in a series of stories breaking down the Philadelphia Phillies’ Top 30 prospects heading into 2026.

Despite missing half the year with a thumb injury, Phillies’ outfield prospect Gabriel Rincones Jr. made it to Double-A during his second full season in the pros, slashing .263/.357/.487 with 11 home runs in 59 games. Standing 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Rincones is a lefty bat with a powerful frame and a professional bloodline: his father, Gabriel Sr., spent time as a pitcher in the Mariners’ organization.

Rincones Jr. is a fighter. Cut from his high school baseball team during two of the four seasons he played, he had to bet on himself via the junior college route, spending a pair of seasons at Florida’s Saint Petersburg Community College. That was enough to attract the eyes of the Padres with a late-round pick, but Rincones decided to return to school, transferring to Florida Atlantic for his final college season. He crushed 19 home runs and drew 42 walks over 58 games with the Owls, posting a 1.109 OPS that earned him a third round selection from the Phillies in 2022.

After rocketing up to Double-A in 2024, Rincones played 119 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley last season, slashing .240/.370/.430 with 18 home runs in 119 games. He struck out roughly 22 percent of the time but also drew walks in an astronomical 16 percent of plate appearances: even more impressive, that isn’t far off his career rate of 13.5 percent. Rincones added 21 steals, making him a 20-20 club candidate.

He struggled against left-handed pitching and may not ever become a plus defender at his size — touch on the basepaths aside — but Rincones’ bat will earn him a place in a major league lineup soon.
