Junior wing Zion Stanford is no longer listed on the Villanova Men’s Basketball 2025-26 roster page, confirming Jeff Neiburg of the Philadelphia Inquirer’s report from March 7 that Stanford had departed the team.

A 6-foot-6 Philadelphia native who spent the first two seasons of his college career at Temple, Stanford looked like a prospective starter upon transferring to Villanova in the offseason. Instead, an ankle injury suffered before the season started delayed his Wildcats’ debut, and he appeared in just ten games upon returning to health, averaging 5.1 minutes in those contests. Stanford last played on Feb. 4 against Seton Hall.

With less than a month to go in the 2025-26 season, the Wildcats have just nine players with eligibility beyond this season listed on their roster; Duke Brennan, Devin Askew and Wade Chiddick will all graduate and, like Stanford, Tafara Gapare departed the team in early January. That leaves Villanova with at least six spots to fill on their roster assuming no transfers. With no recruits confirmed in the 2026 class, they’ll need to scout the transfer portal aggressively at season’s end.
