Westtown School small forward Jaylen Forsythe committed to WVU on Tuesday, May 6, bringing the 2025 recruit’s second recruitment period to a close. A series of recruiting sites including On3 and LeagueRDY broke the news concurrently, with Forsythe confirming the reports via retweet.

Forsythe initially committed to Xavier, but reopened his recruiting in March after former Musketeers head coach Sean Miller jumped ship for Texas. He paid official visits to Tulane and West Virginia in recent weeks, stopping through Morgantown over the weekend of May 2. Of the 15 recruits in Southeastern Pennsylvania with a Division I offer in the class of 2025, Forsythe was the only one still uncommitted.

A 6-foot-5 wing who weighs 190 pounds, Forsythe ranked as the No. 113 player in his class per 247Sports, the No. 29 small forward and the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania. Despite his listed position, Forsythe can play the 2 or the 3, knocking down more than 40 percent of his three-point shots on more than 75 attempts as a junior.

The Mountaineers narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament in 2025, but head coach Darian DeVries left for Indiana at the season’s conclusion, forcing them to replace ten players through recruiting and the transfer portal. Jaylen Forsythe is one of two recruits in West Virginia’s incoming class, joining three-star power forward DeAndre Thomas.
