Villanova Women’s Basketball won their fourth game in a row on Saturday, Feb. 7, putting on another excellent defensive performance in a 67-55 home win over the Georgetown Hoyas.

The Wildcats (19-5, 12-3 Big East) held Georgetown to 35 percent shooting, forcing 20 turnovers and surviving a first half slump of their own. After surging in front with a 17-2 run that took up most of the opening quarter, Villanova made just three of 17 shots in the second period (2-of-13 from two-point range). However, they forced seven turnovers in the frame, preventing the Hoyas from taking advantage of their cold spell.

Jasmine Bascoe (19 points) led the field, as per usual, while freshman guard Kennedy Henry put up ten points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals, keying the Wildcats on both ends of the court. The Hoyas trimmed a 13-point first quarter deficit to a 30-24 Wildcats’ advantage at the half, but Villanova managed just enough scoring to prevent a major run.

After bookending the half with eight straight points, the Wildcats seemed ready to pull away again. They then endured a 1-for-6 spell with five turnovers, including a pair of offensive fouls, as Georgetown closed the gap to 38-37. Henry sank threes on consecutive possessions in the fourth as part of a 10-0 run that put the Hoyas in an insurmountable hole: Villanova made eight of 16 shots in the clutch, pulling ahead 67-49 on a Dani Ceseretti tip-in and silencing any chance of a comeback.

Up next, Villanova Women’s Basketball will travel to face Xavier at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
