Villanova Scheduling: Wildcats to Host Multiple-Team Event

Villanova Men’s Basketball’s 2025-26 regular season schedule continues to come into shape, with the Wildcats set to host a Multiple-Team Event (MTE) involving Duquesne, Queens and Sacred Heart, per a report from college basketball analyst Rocco Miller. The Wildcats will host each of the other three teams involved; Duquesne will host Sacred Heart and Queens, while Queens will host Sacred Heart.
News broke of the Wildcats’ matchup against Sacred Heart back in April: that game will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11, so presumably the other games in the MTE will occur around the same time. Per NCAA Bylaw 17.4.5.1.1, which addresses Multiple-Team Events, “an event in which each institution participates in three contests must conclude not later than 10 days after the first contest of the event,” giving a window for when the Wildcats will face each of those three teams… although it’s not yet clear whether the Sacred Heart game will take place at the beginning, end, or during the middle of the series.
Villanova will face each of their ten Big East rivals both at home and on the road. They’ll also face three teams from the Big 5 during pod play and the championship event, and have their season opener set for a neutral site matchup against BYU in Las Vegas on Monday, Nov. 3. With 27 individual game matchups finalized (if not the date and time they’ll take place), the Wildcats’ 2025-26 opponent list is nearing completion. Most teams play 31 regular season games, although in-season tournaments (typically scheduled for Thanksgiving break) can provide a bit of wiggle room.
