Villanova Legend Kris Jenkins Joins Wildcats Staff
Villanova legend Kris Jenkins, who scored the buzzer-beating three-pointer against North Carolina that gave the Wildcats their second national championship, will serve as the University’s Athletics Operations Coordinator, per a Sept. 15 press release.
Jenkins previously spent time with the Wildcats helping with Student Athlete Development following the conclusion of his playing career. He also played in the NBA G-League and had stints overseas in Europe and Venezuela. Recently, he advocated for student-athletes amidst the advent of Name, Image and Likeness rule changes. Jenkins was part of a 2025 lawsuit against the NCAA, which benefitted financially from advertising his iconic shot… all while student-athletes weren’t able to receive compensation for their likeness or performance.
His new role entails working with “a range of area across the spectrum of Villanova Athletics including Facilities, Events and Equipment Operations,” such as game broadcasts, on-camera video production for social media and work for the Villanova Athletic Fund and student-athlete development.
Villanova Vice President and Director of Athletics Eric Roedl gave the following statement regarding Jenkins and what he brings to the athletics department. ““Kris is a beloved figure at Villanova,” Roedl said,
“Not merely because he hit what may be the most famous game-winner in the history of the NCAA Tournament. From his days as an undergraduate, Kris has always been humble, approachable and engaging. Now, he brings those traits to our team as he learns about the multiple ways our staff strives to create the best experience possible for our student-athletes, coaches and fans.”
Jenkins, for his part, said he was “happy to be back and happy to help. I’m learning new things every day and appreciate this opportunity to be a part of this great University again.”
