Villanova Mock Draft: Eric Dixon’s Stock Improving

Both rounds of the 2025 NBA Draft will take place on Wednesday, June 25 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center: here’s where pundits expect star Villanova forward Eric Dixon to land.
Because of his age (Dixon turned 24 in January) and a perceived lack of athleticism, most draft analysts view the 6-foot-8, 265 pound forward as a mid-to-late second round pick. However, Dixon’s shooting ability, especially from long range, gives him scoring versatility that most players his size don’t have.
Although Dixon led the NCAA in scoring last season on his way to becoming the Wildcats’ all-time points record holder, he attempted just five dunks during the 2024-25 season — get ready to hear that statistic tossed around quite a bit — so adjusting to the level of athleticism in the NBA could prove challenging for him.
ESPN’s latest mock draft slots Dixon in at No. 44 overall to the Oklahoma City Thunder: a young team on the cusp of an NBA championship can certainly afford to roll the dice on another scoring threat. USA Today mocks Dixon to the Cavaliers at No. 49, while Bleacher Report predicts he’ll fall to the Phoenix Suns at No. 52.
A month or two ago, most mock drafts had Eric Dixon as one of the last five to ten players off the board, so his stock has improved following the Draft Combine and exhibition games.
