After putting on a show as one of the rising stars in his first NBA Draft Combine scrimmage, Villanova forward and NBA hopeful Eric Dixon had his second five-on-five outing cut short as a result of foul trouble on Thursday, May 15.

Dixon, who led the nation in scoring last season, racked up four fouls in 18 minutes on the court. He still managed close to a double-double, scoring 11 points on 3-of-8 shooting along with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one turnover. Dixon added five made free throws on six attempts, with officials quick to blow their whistles on both teams.

Even with the abbreviated outing, look to see Dixon’s stock rise after his combine performance. He put up 15 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes on May 14, and participated in the combine’s physical testing as well. Dixon measured in at 6-foot-7 ½ while barefoot, tipping the scale at 258.6 pounds, while his wingspan and standing reach measured in at 6-foot-11 1/2 and 8-foot-8, respectively.

Right now, Eric Dixon projects as a late second round pick because of his age — he turned 24 in January, spending six seasons with Villanova — and a perceived lack of athleticism. The next round of mock drafts following the combine could see his stock surge, however.

With other Villanova products like Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges and Donte DiVincenzo enjoying great success in the NBA, however, don’t be surprised if a team decides to take a flier on the burly power forward.
