Villanova in the Pros
Eric Dixon Another Member of the Villanova Knicks?

The New York Knicks have made their love for Villanova athletes clear in recent seasons, with Wildcats products Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges and Donte DiVincenzo playing a key role during one or more of New York’s playoff runs over the past two seasons.
Now, the ‘Nova Knicks’ could gain another member, with Wildcats forward Eric Dixon projected to fall to New York with the No. 50 pick in this year’s draft, per a mock from Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo of ESPN.
Eric Dixon led the nation in scoring during the 2024-25 season, averaging 23.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game on the way to Third Team All-American honors. The 6-foot-8, 265 pound forward nailed 40.7 percent of his three-point attempts, attempting more than seven per game, and proved adept at drawing fouls as well. He now ranks as the men’s program’s all-time leading scorer, one of the last Wildcats present during the Jay Wright era.
Despite his scoring prowess, Dixon’s age (he turned 24 in January) and athleticism (despite his height, he attempted just five dunks last season, making three) look to make him fall into the second round of the draft… which could help a talented team like the Knicks snap him up.
Dixon’s scoring ability will help him find a spot in the NBA even if he doesn’t fit into any traditional archetypes on the court… and, as shown through the Nova Knicks, learning amidst a culture of winning and discipline provides the ‘intangibles’ that can help sway a scout.
