Villanova Men’s Basketball saw two players earn individual recognition from the Big East for their performance this season, with the conference announcing its first slate of yearly awards on Monday, March 9. Super senior Devin Askew earned plaudits as the league’s Sixth Man of the Year and two-way stalwart Tyler Perkins earned the Most Improved Player award.

Askew averaged 23.0 minutes per night and put up 10.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in that time, giving the Wildcats a valuable dose of experience on both ends of the court. He also helped head coach Kevin Willard establish his vision for the program during his first year at the helm.

Perkins, the only returning player to have played a minute for Villanova last season, led them in scoring (13.7 PPG) and added 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game. After serving as the sixth man and a disciplined defender during the 2024-25 campaign, Perkins broke into the starting lineup and established himself as a bona fide scorer. He also landed on the conference’s third team.

Picked to finish seventh in the Big East in the preseason coaches poll, Villanova finished as the No. 3 seed and has an NCA Tournament at-large bid all but locked up. The conference will announce the next barrage of awards at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, with Wildcats’ point guard Acaden Lewis expected to earn Freshman of the Year honors and Willard in contention for Coach of the Year.
