Villanova Football Offers Versatile 2026 Defensive Back

Villanova Football offered 2026 ATH Luis Martinez, a wide receiver and cornerback out of Pennsylvania’s Allentown Central Catholic, on Wednesday, June 4. Martinez announced the offer via his Twitter (X) account. In addition to head coach Mark Ferrante, Martinez cited Villanova defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Ross Pennypacker for playing a role in his ongoing recruiting.
He stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 190 pounds, possessing offers from Rhode Island, Sacred Heart, Maine, Georgetown and Stony Brook in addition to the Wildcats, with recruiting picking up in recent months following the conclusion of his junior season: Martinez’s first D1 offer, from Stony Brook, came in mid-April.
After watching him play last season, Vic Castillo of Prep Redzone praised Martinez for his ability to play at speed, diagnosing plays and attacking opposing running games with reckless abandon while lining up the perfect angle of attack. With experience at both cornerback and safety, Martinez possesses the kind of versatility that coaches love.
If Martinez does end up choosing Villanova Football, he’ll join quarterback Nolan DiLucia of Peters Township as one of the Wildcats’ first commitments in the Class of 2026.
That season will mark a momentous change for the Wildcats, as they’re set to leave the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) for the Patriot League in 2026, stepping up into one of the toughest leagues in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
