Phillies Prospect Watch: Status Quo for Gage Wood

Phillies affiliates went 1-3 on Thursday, June 4, 2025 first round pick Gage Wood staying close to his 60 pitch threshold in another solid start for the Fightin Phils.

Double-A Reading managed just three hits, falling 2-1 in extra innings. Wood went four innings and fanned four batters, allowing a solo home run. Lightning rod reliever Alex McFarlane struck out three batters in two innings, helping to send the game to extras; Daniel Harper gave up the walk-off hit.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley lost 7-1, their pitching staff methodically worn down against the Rochester Red Wings. Misplays in the field didn’t help the IronPigs’ case on a night when they managed just four hits.

Aroon Escobar endured a rough night in the field, committing a pair of errors. Dylan Campbell (two singles) and Phillies 2024 first round pick Dante Nori (1-for-5 with a steal) contributed most of the Fightin Phils’ offense, although they drew five free passes as a team.

High-A Jersey Shore lost 5-2 to the Brooklyn Cyclones, starting pitcher Mavis Graves stuck with the loss after four innings, seven strikeouts and three runs (two earned). Luis Caicuto (3-for-4 with a homer) and Devin Saltiban (1-for-4 with a triple) led the way for an offense that didn’t wake up until the eighth inning.

Single-A Clearwater pummeled the St. Lucie Mets 10-4. Robert Phelps kept rolling, going 1-for-3 with two walks, and Nolan Beltran and Jaeden Calderon also reached base three times. Center fielder Griffin Burkholder went 2-for-6 with a double, and Alirio Ferrebus notched two singles. Left-handed starter Cade Obermueller allowed one run in three innings, setting the table for a bullpen game that saw seven Threshers pitch.
