Phillies Prospect Watch: Obermueller Moves Up, DeMartini Returns

Phillies’ affiliates went 4-2 on Thursday, July 30 as they made up lost ground caused by weather cancellations earlier in the week. Carson DeMartini continued to return to health in a rehab stint with Clearwater, and 2025 second round pick Cade Obermueller made his High-A debut.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley split their doubleheader, falling 1-0 in the first game before winning 5-3 in the nightcap. Former big leaguers Kameron Misner and Tommy Pham homered in game two; 28-year-old starter Chuck King pitched five innings of one-run ball in the first game, striking out five batters as he worked around soft contact, but got stuck with the loss on a quiet night for the offense.

Double-A Reading won 7-2 behind three RBI from 21-year-old catcher Guillermo Rosario, recently recalled to the Fightin Phils after spending most of the season in rookie ball. Rosario hit a two-run homer and drew a walk with the bases loaded, while Futures Game nominee Wen-Hui Pan pitched a clean inning in relief and earned the win. 

High-A Jersey Shore swept their doubleheader, winning in extras in the first game before scoring four runs in the top of the seventh to pull in front in game two. Obermueller allowed four runs (three earned) across three innings in his first taste of action with the BlueClaws, striking out and walking four batters each. Nathan Humphreys homered in the first game and singled in the go-ahead runs in the second; Daunte Stuart doubled home the game-winner in game one, while starter Cody Bowker fanned six over 3.2 innings of one-run ball.

Single-A Clearwater endured a 9-0 loss, but DeMartini doubled and walked in his second game back on a rehab stint; he landed on the Injured List in early May with a left wrist sprain.
