Phillies Prospect Watch: Mavis Graves Shoves Out of the Bullpen

Phillies affiliates played to a 1-2 record on Sunday, Aug. 2, closing out the week with up-and-down pitching performances.

Left-hander Mavis Graves made his second appearance for Double-A Reading, this time out of the bullpen, and fanned five batters over two innings. Graves allowed just one hit and mowed through his outing in just 25 pitches. Shortstop Bryan Rincon (1-for-3 with two walks) and center fielder Pedro León (2-for-3 with two walks) got on base early and often, but the Fightin Phils lost 9-3 after a rough start from Reese Dutton.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley lost 8-5 as 38-year-old Tommy Pham finished a homer shy of the cycle. Infielder Christian Cairo doubled and walked, and catcher Payton Henry added another two-bagger.

High-A Jersey Shore provided the lone win, a 10-4 decision powered by five RBI from right fielder Nick Biddison (3-for-4 with a double, a homer and a walk); third baseman Tyler Pettorini (2-for-5 with a double and a triple) knocked in three more runs. Phillies 2025 fifth round pick Gabe Craig dropped his BlueClaws ERA to 1.38 with a scoreless inning in relief, fanning two batters on 16 pitches, while starter Tanner Gresham allowed two runs in five innings. Rounding out the slate, Single-A Clearwater saw their game cancelled due to lightning.
