Phillies Prospect Watch: 2025 Prep Picks Stand Out in Clearwater
Phillies affiliates went 5-1 on Saturday, Aug. 1, with a pair of 2025 prep picks putting on a decisive performance for Single-A Clearwater. The Threshers won 9-2 in six innings behind four innings, five strikeouts and two earned runs allowed from Matthew Fisher; fellow prep pick Matt Ferrara homered, as did Jonathan Hogart.
Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 4-1 behind 6.1 innings from right-hander Alan Rangel, who fanned six batters and allowed one unearned run. First baseman Keaton Anthony (2-for-4 with a double) and center fielder Kameron Misner (1-for-4 with a home run) accounted for the IronPigs’ two extra base hits.
Double-A Reading split their doubleheader, dropping the first game 10-5 despite home runs from Bryan Rincon, Alex Binelas and Caleb Ricketts. The Fightin Phils claimed the nightcap 5-4, avoiding disaster with four runs allowed in the final two innings. Pedro León and Aroon Escobar cleared the fences; Braydon Tucker allowed one hit over five innings, striking out five batters on 64 pitches.
High-A Jersey Shore swept their doubleheader. Ramon Marquez sparked a 2-0 shutout with five innings and seven strikeouts on 68 pitches; the ball started to fly in game two, a 14-6 win. Nick Biddison finished a homer shy of the cycle, center fielder Carter Mathison left the yard and third baseman Tyler Pettorini went 3-for-3 with a pair of walks.
