Phillies Prospect Watch: Dylan Campbell Crushing the Baseball
Phillies affiliates went 2-2 on Wednesday, April 15: Texas product Dylan Campbell is heating up at the plate, hitting a grand slam for his third home run for Double-A Reading in as many games. After just one hit in his first seven games this season, the outfielder is finding his way at the plate.
Triple-A Lehigh Valley lost 9-7 in St. Paul. Beyond Felix Reyes, who hit a double and a homer, the vast majority of the production came from long-term minor leaguers who never managed to stick around in MLB.
Dante Nori and Carson DeMartini got thrown out on the basepaths for the Fightin Phils; DeMartini drew two walks but committed a throwing error at third base. Alex McFarlane kept his ERA perfect on the season, striking out two batters to one walk in a scoreless eighth.
Center fielder John Spikerman hit a triple and walked for High-A Jersey Shore. He picked up two hits on the day, as did Devin Saltiban, catcher Kodey Shojinaga and shortstop Jose Colmenares. The BlueClaws fell behind after the Rome Emperors scored four runs in the eighth… but Jersey Shore then put up their own four spot in the ninth, escaping with a 7-5 win.
Single-A Clearwater lost 5-4 in the tenth inning, 2025 fifth round pick Gabe Craig blowing his save attempt in the ninth before the Dunedin Blue Jays walked it off the following frame. First round pick Gage Wood fired four scoreless innings, struggling with command at times — he issued three walks to four strikeouts, landing 36 of his 58 pitches in the zone — but allowed just one hit. Playing at designated hitter, catcher Alirio Ferrebus hit a pair of doubles.
