Phillies Prospect Watch: Back to Double-A For Aidan Miller

Phillies affiliates went 1-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 8, with shortstop Aidan Miller making his return to Double-A Reading as part of his ongoing rehab assignment.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 5-4 with a tenth inning walk-off single from Carter Kieboom (2-for-5 with a double). Third baseman Otto Kemp (1-for-4 with a walk) homered, and first baseman Keaton Anthony drew two walks. Left fielder Kameron Misner (1-for-4 with a walk) and pinch runner Wuilfredo Antunez worked a double steal in the tenth, setting up the game-winning hit.

Double-A Reading lost 6-1 as Phillies 2025 third round pick Cody Bowker gave up five runs in five innings, his worst start since joining the Fightin Phils. The young righty struck out six batters on 82 pitches but allowed a pair of home runs; center fielder Dante Nori (1-for-3 with a triple and a walk) and Bryan Rincon (1-for-4 with a homer) led Reading’s attempt at a comeback.

Second baseman Aroon Escobar wore two pitches and singled; Miller went 0-for-3 and grounded into a double play. He completed a caught stealing and tagged a runner out at second to complete an outfield assist, then checked out of the game in the eighth inning.

Single-A Clearwater began their division series with the Tampa Tarpons with a 2-0 loss. Former big leaguer Nestor Cortes got the start and allowed one run in one inning. Brad Pacheco ate up 5.2 innings in relief but struggled with accuracy, striking out five batters and walking four more.

Shortstop Matt Ferrara (1-for-3 with a walk), second baseman Reece Moroney (0-for-2 with two walks) and catcher Will Vierling (1-for-3 with a walk) all reached base three times. Clearwater will try to keep their season alive in game two of the series on Thursday, Sept. 10.
