Phillies affiliates went 1-1 on Sunday, Aug. 16, making it through just two games as a result of rain. Double-A Reading saw their game cancelled, while Triple-A Lehigh Valley barely made it out of the first inning before their game was suspended until early September.

2026 fifth round pick Will Gasparino went 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk in a 9-4 loss for Single-A Clearwater; shortstop Reece Moroney (3-for-4 with a walk) and designated hitter Macon Winslow (2-for-4 with a walk) also got on base early and often. Dante Nori wasn’t in the lineup after leaving early the previous day, his first game in more than two months as he recovered from a hip stress fracture.

High-A Jersey Shore eked out a 1-0 win, catcher Scott Mudler (2-for-3 with a double) accounting for most of the offense. Lefty starter Cade Obermueller went three innings on 61 pitches, fanning four batters without any hits allowed.

Elsewhere in the organization, Phillies’ 2021 first round pick Andrew Painter endured his worst start since returning to the big leagues, allowing five runs in five innings. The Twins stung Painter for a grand slam in the first inning and a solo shot in the third, but he managed to hang on through the early lumps, finishing his day with consecutive scoreless frames and two strikeouts across 94 pitches thrown. A double play induced in the first inning helped him avoid further damage on a day when he struggled to put batters away.
