Phillies Prospect Watch: Alex Binelas Pummels Two Homers

Phillies affiliates went 2-2 on Tuesday, Aug. 11 with a monster day at the plate from first baseman Alex Binelas.

Double-A Reading won 9-5 behind six RBI from Binelas, who hit a grand slam and a two-run homer in addition to drawing a walk. Aroon Escobar and Raylin Heredia each singled and walked, while struggling right-hander Jean Cabrera allowed five runs in four innings, giving up a pair of home runs. Mavis Graves, meanwhile, continued to adapt well to the bullpen, fanning two batters in a scoreless inning.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 5-4, playing three runs in the ninth for a walk-off win. Gabriel Rincones Jr. doubled in two runs to seal the win. 29-year-old catcher Payton Henry went 3-for-3 with a homer, and starting pitcher Chuck King recorded a quality start with three runs allowed in six innings.

High-A Jersey Shore managed just three hits in a 4-0 loss, while Phillies 2025 second round pick Cade Obermueller continued to get roughed up in his third start for the BlueClaws. The 23-year-old lefty allowed four runs in 3.2 innings, striking out six batters but allowing five walks and a homer.

Griffin Burkholder, TJayy Walton and Scott Mudler each singled and walked, accounting for all the offense; Burkholder got caught stealing to throttle the BlueClaws chances of scoring a run.

Single-A Clearwater lost 2-1, starter Brad Pacheco stuck with the loss despite five innings of two-run ball. 2026 pick Caden Bogenpohl singled and doubled, coming home on another two-bagger from Macon Winslow, but the Threshers drew no closer.
