Phillies Prospect Watch: 2026 Picks Log First Professional Homers

Phillies’ affiliates went 2-1 on Tuesday, Aug. 4, with 2026 outfield picks Caden Bogenpohl and Brayden Bakes hitting their first professional home runs in a 5-2 win for Single-A Clearwater.

Bogenpohl, the Phillies’ second round pick, went 1-for-2 with two walks; Bakes, a 13th round pick, went 1-for-5. Starter Cole Gilley pitched five innings of one-run ball, striking out three batters on 58 pitches as he drew soft contact.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 10-5 behind a storm of paper cuts, logging 11 singles and five walks. Left fielder Felix Reyes went 4-for-4 with a double and a walk, powering the IronPigs’ offense with four RBI. On the mound, Alex McFarlane put up 1.1 innings in relief during his third Triple-A outing, working around two walks to maintain his perfect 0.00 ERA. 

High-A Jersey Shore rounded out the slate with a 10-7 loss. Shortstop Juan Villavicencio (2-for-4 with a double and a walk) reached base three times, as did right fielder Nathan Humphreys (1-for-3 with two walks) and left fielder TJayy Walton (2-for-4 with a walk) and rehabbing catcher Mark Kolozvary, a former big leaguer who went 1-for-3 with a homer and two walks. BlueClaws starter Titan Kennedy-Hayes didn’t make it out of the first inning, however, and although Jersey Shore managed to dig out of an early 4-0 hole, their bullpen couldn’t cover the remaining 8.1 innings.

Double-A Reading, meanwhile, saw their game postponed due to rain.
