Phillies Prospect Watch: Gage Wood Adjusting to Double-A

Phillies’ affiliates went 3-1 on Thursday, June 18, with 2025 first round pick Gage Wood continuing to adjust to the rigors of Double-A ball; his ERA sits at 3.71 after 17 innings (five appearances). The Fightin Phils lost 10-6, knocked around for six runs in the last three frames. Wood gave up two runs in three innings, striking out six batters, while Wen-Hui Pan allowed another run in the ninth, his second inning pitched for the Fightin Phils this season.

Raylin Heredia hit two homers, Alex Binelas (2-for-4 with a walk) added another, and Pedro León doubled twice; Aroon Escobar reached base four times, logging two singles and two walks.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 5-4, staying just ahead despite loading the bases in the top of the ninth inning. Ryan Cusick, a 2021 first round pick of the Atlanta Braves, recorded the two out save; shortstop Christian Cairo (1-for-3 with a double and a walk) was one of four IronPigs to reach base twice.

Saint Joseph’s alumnus Luke Gabrysh got the win for High-A Jersey Shore, striking out six and allowing one run in five innings. The BlueClaws won 8-5, catcher Luke Davis (1-for-2 with two walks) clearing the fences for the second day in a row. Right fielder Joel Dragoo also homered, while Devin Saltiban went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Single-A Clearwater scored nine unanswered runs to win 11-7. Center fielder Griffin Burkholder went 2-for-5 with a homer and a walk, and shortstop Matt Ferrara went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Left fielder Jonathan Hogart drew three walks and second baseman Robert Phelps hit three singles.
