Villanova Transfer Portal: 4-Star Curtis Givens III a Dark Horse?

Villanova Men’s Basketball has a largely completed roster heading into the 2025-26 season, with 13 of 15 spots filled.
In order to round out their roster, the Wildcats have been associated with LSU transfer Curtis Givens III, a 6-foot-3, 185 pound guard who put up 4.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 18.3 minutes per game with the Tigers last season.
Villanova recruited Givens, a member of the ESPN Top 100 for the class of 2024, out of high school. They made his top seven as he narrowed down his college choice, but eventually lost out to LSU.
Now they’re back in the conversation, but there hasn’t been much smoke following the initial report of interest. Additionally, with their roster nearing completion, there might not be much playing time to go around. Maryland (and new Villanova head coach Kevin Willard) also recruited Givens out of high school, so he has ties to the Wildcats’ current leadership, but the Terrapins didn’t get anywhere near as far with him as Villanova did during the initial cycle.
Givens took an official visit to Miami last week but other than that, there hasn’t been much news on his recruitment.
A rising sophomore, Givens retains three years of eligibility. He took the vast majority of shots (118-of-182) from beyond the arc but made just 24.6 percent of them: overall, shooting could use some work, as Givens made 31 percent of shots from two-point range and 59.1 percent go free throws.
Despite the shooting woes, Givens ranks as a four-star transfer prospect on the strength of his passing and defense. It also helps that he has plenty of time to round out his game.
