Villanova transfer Jordann Dumont, a rising redshirt sophomore with three seasons of eligibility remaining, committed to VCU on Thursday, May 8. Dumont, a Montreal native who entered the transfer portal on April 18, broke the news himself through an Instagram post.

After redshirting as a true freshman, Dumont appeared in 20 games for the Wildcats during the 2024-25 season despite undergoing offseason surgery on both of his hips. A 6-foot-8, 220 pound forward, Dumont averaged 6.6 minutes, 1.8 points and 0.8 rebounds in those contests.

Despite his height, 22 of the 25 shots Dumont took in his Villanova career came from beyond the arc: he converted on 45.5 percent of those attempts. He joins a Rams squad led by Phil Martelli Jr., the son of longtime St. Joseph’s University head basketball coach Phil Martelli Sr. and a Hawks’ graduate himself.

While Villanova lost six players to graduation this offseason (including all five of their starters) and another six to the transfer portal, the Wildcats have just two spots to fill on their roster ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. New head coach Kevin Willard picked up a trio of recruits in the class of 2025, then added seven more players through the transfer portal: click here to review the Wildcats’ new-look roster.
