Villanova Recruiting: 4-Star Chris Jeffrey Decommits From Maryland

Villanova Men’s Basketball doesn’t have a single recruit in the class of 2025, but that could change after four-star point guard Chris Jeffrey decommitted from Maryland in the wake of Kevin Willard’s departure for the Main Line.
Jeffrey stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 200 pounds, the No. 70 recruit in his class per 247Sports. Before deciding to reopen his recruiting, Jeffrey was the lone Terrapins’ commitment in the upcoming class. Villanova offered Jeffrey in March 2024, so he was on the Wildcats’ radar long before Willard’s tenure.
An accomplished two-way athlete with room to grow — turnovers and three-point shooting both could use some polish — Jeffrey could work his way into the lineup as a defensive contributor early on: playing time would help him iron out the creases better than a redshirt year.
As of Tuesday, April 1, the Wildcats have at least six spots open on their roster ahead of the 2025-26 season, needing to replace all five of their starters and reserve power forward Nnanna Njoku. Jeffrey could help fill one of those spots, as could some of the Terrapins players who decided to enter the transfer portal in the wake of Willard’s departure. Beyond that, the Wildcats remain on the table for 2025 four-star Dante Allen, who decommitted after Kyle Neptune’s firing but remains open to signing with the program.
