Villanova in the Pros: Mikal Bridges Locks Up Nine Figure Deal
playThe New York Knicks rolled out the Brinks truck for Villanova alumnus Mikal Bridges on Thursday, July 31, as the two sides agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $150 million.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania announced the deal, which includes a player option for the 2029-30 season and a trade kicker, which would give Bridges, 28, more money should the Knicks decide to deal him. Before the deal, Bridges played on a contract set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season.
New York shipped five first round picks to the Brooklyn Nets last summer to acquire Bridges, who put up 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game during his first season in Manhattan.
In addition to Bridges, New York now has Villanova alumni Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart under contract until the the 2027-28 season: Brunson’s contract also contains a player option for the 2028-29 season.
