Villanova in the Pros: Josh Hart Makes Knicks History

He won a pair of national championships with Villanova, and now Josh Hart is setting franchise records for the New York Knicks, one of the oldest teams in the NBA.
Hart recorded his ninth triple-double of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday, March 25, dropping 16 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting during the Knicks’ 128-113 win over Dallas. That moved him out of a tie with NBA Hall
of Famer Walt “Clyde” Frazier for the most triple-doubles in a single season for the Knicks, a record that stood since the 1968-69 campaign. With 11 games left in the Knicks’ regular season, Hart possesses an excellent chance of improving on his own record.
Hart also made history along with teammate Karl-Anthony Towns, who also recorded a triple-double, as the duo became the first pair of Knicks teammates to achieve the stat line in the same game.
New York currently possesses a 45-26 record that’s good for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, but wins haven’t been easy to come by in recent weeks after fellow Villanova alumnus and 2025 All-Star Game starter Jalen Brunson went down with a right ankle sprain on March 6. Even with Brunson nearing a return, Hart and Mikal Bridges — who round out the “Nova Knicks” trio of players who won a championship during Jay Wright’s tenure before landing with New York — have stepped up their game in recent weeks, helping cover for Brunson’s absence.
