Villanova Men’s Basketball product and four-year starter Collin Gillespie earned an NBA contract from the Phoenix Suns on June 30 after spending the first three years of his professional career on two-way or G-League contracts.

ESPN insider Shams Charania broke news of the deal, a one-year contract with exact terms not yet announced. Gillespie helped Villanova make the Final Four in 2022. He missed out on another deep run the previous year due to an MCL injury suffered on the eve of the postseason.

After beginning the 2024-25 campaign with the Suns’ G-League affiliate, Gillespie appeared in 33 games with Phoenix, working his way into the starting lineup for the first time in his career toward the tail end of the season.

Gillespie put up 5.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in an average of 14 minutes per night, posting a career high with 22 points on March 28 against Minnesota. He’ll now have an extended chance this upcoming season to prove he belongs at the highest level of the sport.

With his former teammate Eric Dixon signing a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, the two Wildcats stars could face off as rivals as soon as this season.
