Villanova Guard Tyler Perkins Undergoes Shoulder Surgery
Villanova rising senior guard Tyler Perkins underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder this offseason, per a program release. Arthroscopic surgeries typically imply a minimally invasive procedure, using a small camera to help clean up joint damage in most cases.
Per the release, Perkins is expected to return to basketball activities over the course of the spring and summer months, so he should return to full health well before the Wildcats’ 2026-27 season opener in Rome, Italy on Sunday, Nov. 1.
A two-year veteran at Villanova, Perkins led the team in scoring last season with 13.7 points per game. The 6-foot-4, 212 pound Perkins is a valuable contributor on both ends of the court, adding 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game on the way to Third-Team All-Big East and Most Improved Player honors. He’s one of three returning Wildcats along with Matt Hodge and Niko Onyekwere.
