Villanova football defensive back Isas Waxter II took part in the NFL Combine back in February, participating in physical tests that confirmed his talent as a tall, physical cornerback and completing interviews with professional teams contemplating selecting him in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Among those teams was the Buffalo Bills, who drafted fellow Villanova defensive back Christian Benford in the sixth round of the 2022 draft. Bills’ general manager Brandon Beane has displayed a fondness for selecting players from certain schools, even those not considered traditional powerhouses like the Pittsburgh Panthers (Damar Hamlin and Dane Jackson) or the Temple Owls (Dion Dawkins and, recently, Tyler Matakevich), so it makes sense that Buffalo could keep a close eye on the Wildcats’ product.

Bills’ beat writer Muki Hawkins specifically asked Waxter about his interviews with Buffalo during a media session at the combine: it’s unclear whether the 6-foot-1 cornerback met with any other NFL franchises.

Right now, pundits expect Waxter to fall into the later rounds of the draft, giving Buffalo an easier chance of snapping him up… especially if they want to roll the dice with an earlier selection.

Waxter, 23, spent six seasons with Villanova football, including a medical redshirt in 2022 after an injury caused him to miss the entire season. He racked up three interceptions — all of them during the 2023 season, his first as an All-American — 75 solo tackles, 19 passes defended, three forced fumbles and seven tackles for loss during 46 games in his Wildcats’ career.
