Villanova F Duke Brennan Playing in Pre-Draft Showcase: How to Watch

Villanova forward Duke Brennan will take part in the Portsmouth Invitational, a pre-draft showcase for college seniors trying to catch the eye of professional scouts. He’s set to play for the team that Round’s Landscape Service sponsors: they’ll begin play at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, with the stream link found here.

Brennan is out of eligibility after playing four college seasons — his last at Villanova this past season — but entered the transfer portal in an attempt to capitalize on a proposed rule change the NCAA has in the works that would give all college athletes five seasons of eligibility to complete their careers.

President Donald Trump tried to throw some weight behind the scheme with an executive order, but the NCAA electing to do so of their own volition would smooth the path, likely keeping the process out of the courts. Should Brennan earn that extra season, he hasn’t ruled out a return to Villanova.

A 6-foot-10, 250 pound forward, Brennan averaged a double-double with the Wildcats, putting up 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this past season and tying a program record for the category. He’s a fringe prospect at the NBA level: his lack of scoring away from the basket will hurt him at power forward, while he’s not the caliber of defender to fit as a big league center, but playing at Portsmouth could help Brennan catch on with a G-League team or in Europe if his eligibility plan fails.

Recent Wildcats to play at Portsmouth include Wooga Poplar and Eric Dixon; Dixon had to serve a one-game suspension during the 2024-25 season for participating the offseason prior, and Brennan would need to do the same if he earns another season in college.
