Villanova Transfers: Lewis to Miami, Fiegen Visiting Campus

Villanova Men’s Basketball transfer Acaden Lewis announced his commitment to Miami in an Instagram post on Tuesday, April 14. A rising sophomore who averaged 12.2 points and 5.3 assists for the Wildcats this past season, Lewis entered the transfer portal when it opened while also entering his name into the NBA Draft. While he’s a layup of a future pro, Lewis could use some time to develop. As such, transferring to the Hurricanes makes sense from a career development standpoint.

His departure also left Villanova without a starting point guard: they’ve shored up their roster on the wing and at power forward but still need someone capable of running their offense. The Wildcats hosted Camden native D.J. Wagner for a campus visit on April 14 and also have a visit with Cornell transfer Jake Fiegen lined up this week according to Louie Vaccher of On3.

A 6-foot-4, 205 pound shooting guard, Fiegen averaged 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Big Red this past season. He’s a rising senior and, despite his scoring prowess, doesn’t really have a fit with Villanova right now. Given their developing logjam on the wing, with players like Matt Hodge, Devin Royal, Tyler Perkins, Malachi Palmer and incoming freshman Adam Oumiddoch all expected to earn significant playing time, someone like Palmer would likely need to transfer in order to open up a spot for Fiegen.

Nevertheless, the Wildcats are kicking the tires: Vanderbilt, Virginia and Northwestern are the other contenders for Fiegen’s commitment.
