Villanova Men’s Basketball is keeping tabs on Colgate transfer point guard Jalen Cox, per a report from Sam Kayser of League Ready.

Cox has one season of eligibility remaining and averaged 17.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game last season, taking most of his shots from two-point range and converting 52.1 percent of the time. He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 180 pounds… and is gaining attention from more than a dozen major conference programs, so Villanova will need to make a competitive offer in order to bring Cox to the Main Line.

Jamie Shaw of Rivals is also tying the Wildcats to a pair of top transfers, 6-foot-10, 240 pound center Mouhammad Sylla and point guard Kayden Mingo of Penn State. Given that top point guards are at a premium, they’d probably only go for one of Cox and Mingo; per Shaw’s report, West Virginia made a strong early impression on Sylla.

Sylla averaged 9.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game during the 2025-26 campaign, playing just 16 games due to an ankle injury that kept him out for the last six weeks of his freshman season.

Mingo put up 13.7 points and 4.3 assists per game as a freshman, struggling from beyond the arc but making a respectable 56.9 percent of two-point shots. His younger brother, Dylan Mingo, is one of the top recruits in the class of 2026 and recently backed out of his commitment to UNC: securing one brother could help bring the other to campus.

Villanova has nine spots to fill on their roster ahead of the 2026-27 season: reports have also linked them to an Oregon forward and an Ivy League guard.
